No Putdowns~ Pass It Around

The No Putdowns Project is a curricular response to rising school bullying and intolerance. It has three goals:

  1. To create a school and home environment that recognizes the destructive effects of put-downs

  2. To reject the use of put-downs in all interpersonal interactions

  3. To replace put-downs with healthy communication skills

At Skano, lessons are taught in individual classrooms and in whole-building assemblies.  At the elementary level, we stress the importance of how to handle a put-down when it is received and why someone would be compelled to use a putdown in the first place.
