Weekly Newsletter

May 9, 2008

Dear Parents,

We had a lot going on this week. They have been observing our marigold plants and writing down the changes that they are noticing in science. We also continued our unit on comparing and measuring and worked with nonstandard units to measure objects around the room.

Writing: The students published their "How to…" books this week and will be sharing them next week. It was difficult to break down the writing into steps, but they did a really nice job!

Math: We began a new chapter on 3-D objects. We searched around the room for cubes, cones, rectangular prisms, pyramids, spheres, and cylinders. They could search for these objects at home too! We are still focusing on telling time throughout the day so that concept continues to be reinforced.

Info/Reminders:

*We are helpers at morning program next week. The schedule is attached.

*The Scholastic Book Fair is at Skano next week. My class is scheduled to go to the book fair on Monday. Please send money in an envelop with your child’s name on it.

*Thank you to all the kids for the flowers.

*We had Mrs. Hislop come in for book n’ bites this week. The kids are having a great time eating lunch in the classroom! There is still time if you would like to come in!
