SAGE sponsors Saturday Scholars, a program of mini-courses designed to provide
challenging enrichment opportunities for academically, creatively and
artistically talented children.
Shen
Dollars for Scholars program offers a wide-range of scholarships
including memorial scholarships, additional
scholarships with specific emphases, as well as the general DFS
scholarship. Interested applicants should visit the
website and click on Scholarship Application for specific requirements.
Skano is one of
four
elementary
schools
located
on
the
main
campus.
It
is
connected
to
Tesago Elementary School sharing a cafeteria/auditorium. It opened
in 1966-67.

Angel Sale Information: The Skano Student Council is selling
Angels for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeast New York
beginning on December 15th and ending on December 18th.
The Angels cost $1.00 each and students will decorate the
Angels to be put on display in our school lobby. Thanks for
your support!

Deguire's 1st graders and Mrs. Avenarius' 5th graders worked
on
a butterfly project called "Kids Thank a Veteran". Each
student made a red, white and blue butterfly to honor those
soldiers who have been lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. Each
butterfly will have a name, rank and age of a fallen
soldier. Children from all over the United States have
participated in this tribute and all the butterflies will be
placed on a 11 foot tall tree. The plaque for the tree will
read, "The life of a butterfly is short, but its impact on
the world cannot be measured".

November 3rd, Skano Elementary kicked off a new
Bucketfilling Program to complement No Putdowns; both of
which support character education as mandated by NYS.
Students are taught to be bucketfillers (people who are kind
and caring), and not bucket-dippers. Skano is proudly
featured in an article in The Bucketfillers For Life,
Inc. newsletter.

Information Night to provide parents with an overview of the
new Elementary Math Textbook Series. Below is a video of
