Spelling

Spelling words align with the reading story for the week.  Challenge words
are the focused vocabulary words from each story.  During novel unit
instruction, the students may be given spelling lists consisting of vocabulary
from the novel.  The students take a test each Friday.

An important goal of the spelling program is to consistently transfer
learned spelling words to the student’s daily work.
