Tesago Elementary Third Graders were
entertained by Ellen Mnich, while learning about the culture of
many countries. Ellen Mnich, a speaker well known for her
traveling museum program, “Aunt Helen’s Closet” began the program
fifteen years ago when she took her aunt’s sixty years of
globetrotting tales and numerous souvenirs and turned them into a
traveling trunk showcase.
Aunt Helen becomes more real when
students model clothes, hats and jewelry from many
countries. Students tried on sombreros, kimonos and various
jewelry from every country except two. After the
presentation, Ms. Mnich, instructed the students to write an
adjective filled story describing a piece of her jewelry. It
was a fun, exciting time that allowed both students and adults to
share Aunt Helen’s travels.
