Dear Parents:
We are pleased to have the opportunity to
be working with your child. Kindergarten is a time of great
growth and development for the children. We use a variety of
activities and try to keep an exciting classroom environment for
the children to enjoy. Below are some notes to help you and
your child with the start of kindergarten.
Supplies:
Please bring these items with you at the
time of your scheduled screening appointment in September. We
share supplies in Kindergarten. They are consumed rapidly and
space is a problem for storing individual supplies.
Your child will need the following items
to share:
1. Crayons A box of eight large
crayons to start the year. Please, no glitter crayons or the
So Big size.
2. Markers One set of washable
Crayola markers, classic colors, fine tip. and one set of
washable Crayola markers, classic colors, broad tip.
3. Glue Stick The large
size only. (No small ones, please, since they break easily.)
The children will need five for the school year. (shop early.
These are difficult to find.)
4. Fiskar Scissors The children
find that these cut especially well and hold up under harsh
treatment. Please purchase the metal blade scissors rather than
the plastic ones.
5. Pencils Five plain yellow #2
pencils. Please sharpen.
6. Folder A folder with bottom
pockets for home/school communication.
7.Computer Headphones Please
label with your childs name and place in a Ziploc bag. (no ear
bud type please)
9. Dry-Erase Markers students
should bring one broad tip Expo Dry Erase Marker
10. Tissues students should bring
one box
11. Ziplock Bags A.M. students
should bring Gallon size Ziplock Bags , P.M. students should
bring Sandwich size Ziplock Bags
12. Your child will also need a backpack
labeled with his or her name. Please besure that it is large
enough to hold snack containers and projects.
SNACK We have snack every day.
Each child brings his or her own. We prefer a healthy snack
such as fruit or vegetables, bagels, crackers, etc. Please do
not send sugared snacks. The children are welcome to bring in
water or a juice box.
BIRTHDAYS Birthdays are very
special. You may send in cupcakes, cookies, or any other
special treat. Please, drop us a note a few days before if you
plan to send something in. Please do not send in cakes that
need to be cut. Also, the children have their own drinks, so it
is not necessary to send in juice.
NOTES A note is needed if you
plan on altering your childs normal dismissal routine in any
way. Without a note we are required to follow regular dismissal
procedure, this includes those times you plan to pick up your
child from school.
CLOTHING please label all items of
clothing (sweaters, raincoats, boots, hats, etc.)
Make sure they are not too difficult for
your child to manage independently.
Each child will have one week in which we
will learn about his or her life and family.
When your turn arrives, we will send home a
booklet for you to work on. Complete the booklet with your
child and include snapshots of your family. These will be
re-turned to you at the end of the year.
We hope this letter answers any questions
you may have. We are looking forward to working with you and
hope that we will remain in touch throughout the year.
Please feel free to contact us any school
day by calling the main office.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Tesago Kindergarten Teachers
