First graders welcomed spring by creating a beautiful still life
painting. Spanish moss was used to create texture, and the
flowers were painted with sponges.

Claude Monet was the inspiration for these chalk/oil pastel
drawings. Students looked at Monet's Japanese bridge
paintings, and then made their own landscapes, complete with bridges
and ponds.

Third graders studied the culture of ancient Egypt, using King Tut's
burial mask as inspiration for their own colorful mask creations.
Hieroglyphs and Egyptian symbols adorn each mask.

Students used watercolors on cloth to create these striking
African mud paintings. Each symbol inside the animal was chosen by
the students for it's visual interest and specific meaning. |
These colorful designs contain not only radial balance, but the
student's names as well! Carbon paper was used to transfer the block
lettering throughout the design. Warm and cool colors were
used strategically to make the letters harder to read. Can you
find the names?
