ART IS VITAL TO YOUR CHILD’S FUTURE! |

The Partnership for 21st century skills is a national organization that advocates for 21st century readiness for all students. Members include leading American businesses. The Partnership has identified these skills as critical to student’s future success in the workplace:
- creativity and innovation - collaboration - problem solving - critical thinking - global awareness - media and technology literacy
The learning environment in the art room enables students to focus on these skills each week! Because there is no one “right” answer to each given art challenge, students must use problem solving and critical thinking skills to maximize their creative efforts. They become more comfortable with creative, innovative thinking, because they can take risks and grow from missteps without fear of consequences. Students are required to use teamwork and collaborate each week, because it is one of our classroom rules! They make connections between our projects and topics of personal relevance, and are able to make discoveries about specific artists and other cultures as well. Whether students experiment with Mr. Picassohead.com, or create photographs where they draw with light, technology is a part of our art program as well.
