Board of Education Approves Resolution to Authorize the Transition of Performing Arts

Written by on March 23, 2021

The Shenendehowa Board of Education approved the district’s resolution to authorize the transition of Performing Arts at the Board meeting on Tuesday, March 23.

As shown in information provided by the Suburban Council Music Directors during a presentation to the Board, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued a K-12 Schools COVID Mitigation Tool Kit in February 2021. This Took Kit provided guidance for school music programs and recommended the use of bell covers during student use of wind instruments, the use of masks worn by students when singing, and 6 feet distancing for both.

Based on this presented information, the Board of Education adopted the resolution adhering to the guidance from the CDC for Shenendehowa’s music program and will allow students to participate in the music program as long as bell covers are used for all wind instruments, masks are worn by all students when singing, and there is at least 6 feet of distancing between students at all times.
