ANTICIPATED VACANCY

POSITION: Bus Driver Trainer & Safety Coordinator, 8 HRS/DAY, 12 MONTHS/YEAR 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the training, orientation, and testing of new and experienced bus drivers and school bus monitors as required in NYS Motor Vehicle and Traffic Law; Conducts periodic training and safety classes to reaffirm safe driving practices and correct potential deficiencies; Makes regular road trips to observe correct driving  techniques; Responsible for conducting biennial behind-the-wheel defensive and driving tests as well as written test as required by Motor Vehicle and Traffic Law Operates a school bus on an assigned route or special occasions. Input transportation related data into computer database. Maintain DMV 19-A files per regulations.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of driving safety practices, Vehicle and Traffic Laws related to school bus operation; Skill in operating school buses under all types of driving conditions; Ability to organize and conduct driver training and safety courses for Bus Drivers; Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; Physical conditioning commensurate with demands of position. Thorough computer knowledge.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
A. An Associate Degree in Business Management preferred with a minimum of three years’ experience in the operation of a school bus and at least three years as a certified DMV Article 19-A Examiner. Must Possess Class B License with “P” and “S” Endorsement or;

  1. High school graduate with a minimum five years’ experience in the operation of a school bus and at least three years as a certified DMV Article 19-A Examiner. Must Possess Class B License with “P” and “S” Endorsement or; C. Certification as School Bus Driver Instructor, Certified as DMV Article 19-A Examiner and a combination of A and B in terms of experience.

BENEFITS & SALARY: Professional working environment, supportive parents and community, salary per Shenendehowa CSEA collective bargaining agreement, STEP 1 ($26.98/hr)
