Coronavirus COVID-19 Update 3/13/20

Written by on March 13, 2020

While there are still no confirmed cases among students/staff at Shenendehowa, it is with an abundance of caution that we are exercising the authority granted to close school.

Shenendehowa students will not report to school (classes cancelled) March 16 through March 20.

The following staff will report on Monday, March 16, to plan for the provision of online educational opportunities, support for students with special needs, and food provisions for those in need as well as to develop productivity plans for operational functions, communications and cleaning and sanitizing buildings and buses:

  • All Instructional Staff and RSPs
  • All 12 Month Employees
  • All Administrators
  • Required Transportation Staff (to be determined by Al Karam)
  • Required Food Service Staff (to be determined by Katy Headwell)

The staff listed above should report to their home school/primary work location Monday morning. Absence from work must still be reported through regular attendance procedures.

Superintendent’s Conference Day for instructional staff is being moved to Monday, March 16 and will be used as a planning day for providing educational opportunities for students during the period of class cancellation. There will NOT be formal presentations on 3/16 or 3/20.

Information related to the staff planning on March 16 will be shared once determinations are made.

The district will continue to evaluate the situation next week and determine next steps as we continue to help mitigate the community spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19.

This is a serious health matter that we are monitoring closely and we will continue to share information as it becomes available.

Please know that, as always, the health and safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and we will remain vigilant in our efforts to help prevent the spread of this illness.
