does every student have to take nat’l issues/econ? even if we have enough social studies credits? what if we wanted to take AP psychology/ sociology instead?

A.  Yes, New York has very specific Social Studies graduation requirements to receive a high school diploma.  Every student must take 2 units of Global History credit,  1 unit of U.S. History credit, ½ credit in Participation in Government (which call NIF here at Shen), and ½ credit in Economics.   The SUPA Psychology and Sociology courses are only electives.  They are not required for graduation.
