Four of Shen’s freshman boys: Austin Gratten, Allen Zhao, Duncan Brown, and Max Paulsen, won gold at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) National Championships regatta held at Dillon Lake in Nashport, Ohio. They won with a time of 04:56.97 for 1,500 meters, a nearly 9-second lead over second place Brophy College Preparatory (Phoenix, AZ), and more than 10 seconds faster than third place Western Albermarle High School (Crozet, VA). The freshman boat also won gold the week before, with a similarly decisive victory, at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta in Philadelphia. The Stotesbury regatta is the world’s largest high school regatta, with 189 schools competing this year.
