Surrounded by his team of therapists, teachers and district leadership, AJ Ballard graduated from 5th grade during a special ceremony on Tuesday, June 22 at his home in Clifton Park. Since Kindergarten, AJ has had a team of support come to his home to help him on his academic journey – from speech therapy to music therapy – all while overcoming seizures on a daily basis. Through it all, even in this trying year of COVID, AJ has shown just how resilient he is.

With an original life expectancy of 6-8 years of age, AJ is now 10 1/2 years old and looks forward to entering Middle School next year. AJ’s family is the foundation of his remarkable support team. His mom Jennifer, dad Brian and little sister Brianna, all surrounded AJ in the 5th grade celebration.

“AJ is a very loving and smiley young man!” said his mom Jennifer, who teaches band in the Cohoes School District. “He has overcome so many obstacles throughout his life! He loves traveling and going on new adventures! His favorite places are Disney, cruises and Double H Ranch! He can not wait to be able to safely travel again!”

We wish AJ nothing but the best as he starts Middle School in the fall!
