Now I’m not for people being hateful to one another, but isn’t it illegal to say that we cannot use “Hate Speech” and such. It’s a dangerous road to go down if we don’t allow speech based on feelings. Once again I am not for people saying these hateful things, I just think they should have the right to just like everyone else. Thanks for reading!

A.  Although the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees freedom of speech to all Americans, that does not permit students to interfere with the orderly conduct of classes, to force others to participate in a particular method of expression, or to violate the rights of those who disagree with their viewpoint.

Therefore, student speech may be subject to disciplinary action or restriction if it:

        1. Is slanderous, hateful in nature, discriminating, spoken maliciously and/or without regard to the truth
        2. Clearly and immediately urges others to damage property or physically harm others
        3. Materially or substantially interferes with the normal operation of the school
