SHEN fields go green, organically!

This Friday, April 12, Shen will begin the first round of a new organic field treatment program, without pesticides. This treatment uses organic fertilizer and compost tea to establish a strong root system while feeding the soil with healthy microbes. This application will help build organic matter in the soil, increase the soil ability to retain water and turn the turf green without the extra top growth. It also includes humates, a naturally occurring material that is very rich in humified organic matter and humic substances.

The grounds department will be slit aerating and seeding ahead of the feeding for optimum results.

The district has worked with the NYS Education Department and it fully approves of this organic treatment method without any pesticides.

The Shenendehowa Central School district takes tremendous pride it what it does and the quality experience it provides to students. It is crucial that the fields are carefully maintained to ensure the safety of our student athletes and lower the risk potential for injury.
