Shenendehowa High School is pleased to announce the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2020. This year’s valedictorian is Duk (Kenny) Young Jung, the son of Weon Young Jung and Kazumi Ohata of Clifton Park. The salutatorian is Nicole Cheetham, the daughter of William and Claudine Cheetham of Clifton Park. 

Duk (Kenny) Young Jung has received numerous accolades including being an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction, Academic Awards in Math and Science, National Latin Exam Gold Summa Cum Laude, University at Albany Multicultural Award, and Green Letter Academic Awards. While at Shenendehowa he has been a member of Team 20 Robotics, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, American Computer Science League, and the Tennis Team. Additionally, he served his classmates as a peer tutor. He will be attending Northeastern University to study Computer Engineering and Computer Science. 

Nicole Cheetham’s many accolades include the RIT Medal for Computing and Scholarship, National Chemistry Olympiad Winner, National Center for Women and Information Technology Award Winner, Social Studies Notable Scholar Award, and Green Letter Academic Awards. Nicole has been a member of the Shenendehowa Society of Women Engineers, the National Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, and Science Olympiad. She presented a paper on Artificial Intelligence Education K-12 in Washington D.C. this past fall. Nicole was a member of the Shenendehowa Cross Country and Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Teams. Additionally, she serves as a Teacher Assistant at the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Library teaching younger students computer science. She will be attending Cornell University to study Artificial Intelligence Programming.
