Shenendehowa had four students place in the top 900 for the MathCon competition: Emily Yin, Ellie Yang, Purva Shenoy, and YeonWoo Kim.

Emily and Ellie will travel to Chicago to compete at the next level, surpassing 47,281 competitors across 43 states to qualify for finals.

Shen also had four students that were on the waitlist: Max Turner, Taina Stevens, Jonathan Indajang and Mashrur Khan.

Students from across the nation in grades 5-12 including home-schooled, charter, public and private school students competed in the online competition. Of the 48,000+ participants, only 900 of the most qualified students advance on to the national finals.

The MathCON final competition is a 100-minute timed test comprising 40 multiple-choice questions and student constructed responses covering a range of mathematical disciplines.

In addition to the finals testing, students at this year’s competition will enjoy entertainment provided by InJest Comedy Show with Nels Ross, the opportunity to compete in math-related games, and more!
