URGENT: Governor issues executive order that impacts the acceptance of absentee ballots for the June 9 election…

On June 8, the district received Governor Cuomo’s executive order with regard to the statewide mandated budget vote and school board election that was moved to Tuesday, June 9 due to the pandemic. 

As a reminder, by law, the last day to pick up an absentee ballot is today, June 8 at 5 p.m. at the district office (the day prior to the June 9 election).

Here are the key points from the executive order:

  • No ballots for such election shall be hand delivered (placed in the ballot box) and accepted by the clerk after 5 p.m. on June 9, 2020.
  • Ballot boxes for absentee ballots shall be closed and removed at 5 p.m. on June 9, 2020
  • Absentee ballots may be accepted by mail in the office of the clerk no later than June 16, 2020 to be canvassed for such election.
  • All ballots shall remain unopened pending delivery of mailed ballots, and shall be removed and canvassed after 5 p.m. on June 16, 2020
