Why hasn’t school been talking about the situations going on right now such as the Black Lives Matter Movement, LGBTQIA+? Plus many other things such as awareness for certain topics, ect. Thank you.

What are green and white awards? I got a letter in the mail for them!

A. The White Letter Award is awarded to students who have been selected by their club advisor for exceptional service/dedication to a club/activity last school year.  The White Letter Patch is awarded to recipients for the first time.  The White Letter Pin is awarded to recipients who have already received a White Letter Patch in […]

This school feels like a prison. People need to know how the students feel

A. We are sorry you feel that way. We understand how you feel. COVID-19 has changed things dramatically.

It is against the law for teachers to require you to turn your camera on so in regards the the email that was sent out I will not be turning my camera on

A. No, it is not against the law. Students who are accessing school virtually are still in school, expecting to comply with similar and applicable rules. If a student has a situation that may warrant otherwise, the matter should be first addressed with the classroom teacher, and then possibly with the school administration.

There is a girl in my AP world class whose mom got covid. She texted the class in a groupchat and told everyone. Everyone asked if she got a covid test, she said no. Now she is staying home with “a cold” but is still refusing to get a covid test. Now all the kids in class with her are still going to school, none of which have received a covid test.

A. If in fact there is a positive case that impacts our students, the department of health will work with the district to ensure the safety of our staff and students.  If you know someone who is possibly positive and concerned, please notify the school nurse or the building principal.

If a student has to quarantine, will the school work with them to obtain breakfast and lunch if it is needed?

A. Yes and the Department of Health offers assistance with grocery shopping if the family needs it.

Could students wear a shirt that has the text “Black Lives Matter” on it? I think we should be able to since this movement is NOT political and it shouldn’t be political.

A. It is not indicative of any hate symbol or hate speech, so there are no bans on it.
