On October 8th, the Board of Education approved a resolution to name the district’s Early Learning Center. The Atrea Early Learning Center will welcome students in the fall of 2026! 
Atrea (Uh-tree-a) means “to have small for small children.” The new name comes from a long-held list of Native American words used to name other schools in the district. The district has long looked forward to opening a full-day kindergarten building. Bringing all our students together to start their educational journey at Shenendehowa will be a game-changer for our district and community.
Shatekon’s current principal, Erica Ryan, has been named the new principal of Atrea. She will continue as Shatekon’s principal until she makes the transition to her new position in April 2026.
