Summer Education and Enrichment


Summer School – The Shenendehowa Summer School Program provides students in grades 6-12 with an opportunity to take courses for credit recovery, skill building, Regents review, Regents examinations, bridge courses and acceleration (Health). It runs for five weeks in July and August from 8 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. It also provide the opportunity for students to re-take the Regents exams in August.

Hours: 8-12, 1-4, & 5-7

First Day of Classes: July 9, 2018; Last Day of Classes: August 15, 2018; Regents Exams: August 16 and 17 (last day for exam registration is July 16th)

  • Checkpoint A Review Classes: July 23 – August 2
  • Checkpoint A Exam – August 6+7
  • Regents Review and Bridge Courses: July 30-Aug.9 (tentative)
  • Earth Science Lab Practical: August 9th

Summer School Classes run Monday-Thursday and are held at HSW.

No classes July 26 – 29 – Mid-term Break


Summer driver’s education program

The High School Summer School Program also offers driver’s education. This non-credit course includes 24 hours of classroom instruction and 24 hours of on the road instruction. Students must have a valid NYS Learners Permit or license prior to taking the program. The program runs July-August. Students must be 16 years of age on or before July 1.

Payments are non-refundable once the program begins. Checks must be made payable to Shenendehowa Central School District.
Registration will take place May- June. The program is conducted Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Summer Literacy Support Program – This program was designed, in accordance with New York State Learning Standards, to help children in developing reading, writing, and math skills. A team of certified teachers works with children daily for the four weeks of the program. 

Summer Literacy Support Program is a concentrated session of learning, providing intensive interventions to students. Students are invited by their home schools for participation. 

The Summer Literacy Program will be held:

July 9, 2018 through August 2, 2018

Days: Monday through Thursday (weekly)

Times: 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Location: Karigon Elementary School

Transportation to and from the program will be provided by the district.

The Extended School Year Program (ESY) provides special education and related services to students in grades K-12 to prevent the loss of skills during the summer.

Dates: July 2 – August 10

Arongen and High school West

  • Arongen Half-day Program – 8 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
  • Arongen Full-day Program – 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
  • High School West Half-day Program – 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
  • High School West Full-day Program – 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Shen Summer Adventures – The Shenendehowa Central School District, in conjunction with the Community Education Department, is pleased to sponsor our Summer Enrichment Program for students entering grades 1-12. Some camps are half-day camps while others are full day camps. Most camp directors and staff members are current Shenendehowa employees. All camps will be located primarily on the Shenendehowa campus.
