Sixth grade students in Mrs. Deitz’s FACS classes were joined by High School members of the AWOD Club (A World of Difference) to engage in activities and learn about respect, kindness, character, and the damaging effects of stereotypes.

8th grade accelerated art students in Jessica Clermont’s Studio in Art class worked hard creating amazing sculptures. Their work in on display in the Gowana library.

The Shen Music Department hosted their 19th Annual jazz Festival, featuring guest artist Sharel Cassity. The concert included students in grades 6-12 and culminated in a performance with Sharel and all 100+ jazz students!

The Middle Schools welcomed award winning author/poet, Kwame Alexander in April

Tri-building students were able to ask questions pertaining to his life, career, and his books, such as The Crossover, Becoming Muhammad Ali and The Playbook.

Susan Christman’s 7th grade Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) students created and sewed “Cage/Care Comforters.” for the Saratoga County Animal Shelter.

Strengthening the community one stitch at a time. Susan Christman’s 7th grade Family and Consumer Sciences FACS students applied their sewing machine lessons and learned skills to create and sew “Cage/Care Comforters.” All “Cage/Care Comforters” were donated to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter as part of The FACS department’s ongoing commitment to community services. 

Students at Acadia middle who are part of the Individual Skills Development program took part in a shamrock shake cooking lesson.

     

Luen Lee, a 7th grader at Acadia Middle School, won 1st place in the Junior Individual Exhibit category at Capital Region History Day.

She will be going to the State competition on April 24th at SUNY Oneonta.

Staff and students competed in Acadia’s annual Dodgeball tournament last week!
