Graduation Information

Graduation – June 27, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. at SPAC

The Shenendehowa Central Schools graduations are held at Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC), 108 Avenue of the Pines, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

No tickets are required and the number of guests is not limited. Typically, the amphitheater, both upstairs and downstairs is at capacity of 5,200, and a good portion of the lawn near the theatre is used as overflow.

Directions: Take Interstate 87 to Exit 13N, to merge onto U.S. 9 N toward Saratoga Springs. Drive 3.3 miles and turn left onto Avenue of the Pines.

Key Dates:

  • May 20- May 22 – Cap and gown distribution in the gallery hallway of the HSE west wing.  Students who have not picked up their announcements will pick them up with their caps and gowns. If packaged with graduation announcements from Herff-Jones, rental free.  All others pay a $21.00 rental fee – cash preferred. (10:00 am – 2:00 pm)
  • May 1 – May 3 – Administration will be visiting English classes to go over graduation procedures and issue row/seat assignments. Students not currently scheduled in an English class will be contacted via the CAP’s office.

Graduation Procedures

  1. Arrive at SPAC by 12:30 PM and park in the main lot.
  2. At 12:45 PM, graduates should begin lining up behind their row signs at the top of the hill where row leaders will put students in order for the processional. See the attached SPAC Overview Map and Student Processional Lineup with their rows.
  3. In the event of rain, Administration will direct graduates to their seats by 1:15 PM.

Caps, Gowns and Tassles

Caps and gowns are rented and will be returned to a designated location at SPAC following graduation – tassels are not returned.

 

Graduation photos

Photographers from Lauren Studios take pictures of the graduates at different stages in the ceremony at SPAC. For specific questions concerning graduation pictures, contact Lauren Studios at 336-6130.

 

Graduation Cords/Medals

  • All graduates – green and white cap tassel
  • Graduates with a GPA of 85% and above – gold cap tassel
  • Graduates with a GPA of 95% and above – medal
  • National Honor Society – gold cord
  • Math Honor Society – light blue and gold cord
  • Science National Honor Society – Green, purple, and gold
  • Rho Kappa (Social Studies Honor Society) cords – blue and white
  • World Language Honor Society – four different cords, each one corresponds to the flag colors of French (red, white, blue), German or  Spanish. Latin is purple and gold. Chinese is not a cord option because students need to take three years of a language to be eligible for WLHS and the district only offers two years of Chinese.
  • Tri-M Honor Society – Pink cord
  • National Art Honor Society – Single strand, Rainbow Cord
