Summer Education and Enrichment

GRADE 6-12 SUMMER SCHOOL

Summer School – The Shenendehowa Summer School Program provides students in grades 6-12 with an opportunity to take courses for credit recovery, skill building, Regents review, Regents examinations, bridge courses and acceleration (Health). It runs for five weeks in July and August from 8 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. It also provide the opportunity for students to re-take the Regents exams in August. There is a $3.00 fee per class and a $15.00 fee for Regents exam retakes.

Summer driver’s education program

The High School Summer School Program also offers driver’s education. This non-credit course includes 24 hours of classroom instruction and 24 hours of on the road instruction. Students must have a valid NYS Learners Permit or license prior to taking the program.  The program runs July-August. Students must be 16 years of age on or before July 1.

The fee is approximately $410.00 for Shenendehowa High students. Payments are non-refundable. Checks must be made payable to Shenendehowa Central School District.

Registration will take place May- June.  The program is  conducted Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

SUMMER LITERACY SUPPORT PROGRAM (GR. 1-6)

Summer Literacy Support Program – This program was designed, in accordance with New York State Learning Standards, to help children in developing reading, writing, and math skills. A team of certified teachers works with children daily for the four weeks of the program. 

Summer Literacy Support Program is a concentrated session of learning, providing intensive interventions to students. Students are invited by their home schools for participation.

EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR (ESY)/SPECIAL EDUCATION Summer Program

The Extended School Year Program (ESY) provides special education and related services to students in grades K-12 to prevent the loss of skills during the summer.

SUMMER ENRICHMENT CAMPS

Shen Summer Adventures – The Shenendehowa Central School District, in conjunction with the Community Education Department, is pleased to sponsor our Summer Enrichment Program for students entering grades 1-12. Some camps are half-day camps while others are full day camps. Most camp directors and staff members are current Shenendehowa employees. All camps will be located primarily on the Shenendehowa campus.
