Absentee ballots for the May 16, 2023 budget vote and school board election are available for any resident who, in good faith, expects to be out of town or is unable to come to the polls for the following reasons:

  • Patient in a hospital on the day of the vote
  • Illness
  • Fear of contracting COVID-19
  • Physical disability (By law, absentee ballots are mailed to any resident who is disabled. If you are disabled and did not receive one, please call the district clerk’s office at (518)881-0623.)
  • Occupation, duties, business, or studies outside of the County on the day of the vote
  • Vacation outside the County on the day of the vote
  • Detained in jail awaiting action of a grand jury, trial or confined in prison after conviction for offense other than a felony

First, residents must fill out an absentee ballot application. The application can be downloaded and mailed or picked up in person at the district clerk’s office at 5 Chelsea Place Clifton Park, NY 12065.

All absentee ballot applications must be received by the district clerk at least seven (7) days before the vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the vote if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter at the district office.

Once the district receives the application, a ballot is either mailed to the resident or the applying resident can pick it up at the district clerk’s office. Residents can not pick up a ballot for someone else. Ballots must be returned to the district clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 15 at 5 Chelsea Place Clifton Park, NY 12065.

Please be reminded that providing false information about the reason one is asking for a ballot is a misdemeanor.
