Congratulations to Koda Middle School student, Ratnottama Bhattacharyya, for participating in the Promising Young Writers Program and being awarded the highest honor of “First Class.”
National judges evaluated each piece of writing for expression of ideas, language use, and unique perspective and voice. For the third year, the Promising Young Writers contest has four designations, with the “First Class” distinction replacing the previous Certificate of Recognition. The new distinctions are as follows:
- First Class
- Superior
- Excellent
- Merit
This year, schools nominated 226 students to participate in the Promising Young Writers Program. Students were nominated from 34 states, as well as Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. Internationally, teachers nominated students in India, Russia, and Taiwan.
