Shen Community,

On Thursday, April 28, 2022, Saratoga County Public Health issued a HEALTH ADVISORY: SARATOGA COUNTY COVID-19 COMMUNITY LEVEL regarding the CDC designation of a high COVID level for Saratoga County. Please note that the County is not issuing a mask mandate. The County issued an advisory and shared recommendations for precautionary actions. Consequently, the district will adhere to the advisory and recommends following its COVID-19 Community Mitigation Toolkit to minimize spread and keep Shenendehowa healthy and safe.

As described in the Advisory, we as a school community, and community at large, have the tools to contend with the realities of COVID, such as:

  • Getting vaccinated or boosted,
  • Isolating when sick,
  • Testing upon first sign or symptoms of COVID,
  • Taking oral antiviral medications as prescribed by a physician at the onset of symptoms, and
  • Wearing a mask as deemed necessary (masks are readily available in school buildings/nurse’s offices).

The school district will continue to make test kits available to families, as long as supplies last. School nurses will continue to complete diagnostic tests and reporting of positives, all of which are posted daily on the district homepage as well as the COVID Corner. Mitigation efforts such as ventilation, cleaning, and hygiene are still in full effect.

The district will continue to diligently assess situations and remain focused on prudently balancing safety with the provision of educational options and opportunities.
