why aren’t students allowed to go on their phones in lunch in the middle school, as 9-12th graders are? i believe everybody should have the privilege until proven they cannot handle it. students are monitored throughout lunch, so if they ever used their phone inappropriately, it would be seen and managed.

A.  Cell phone use in not prohibited in the MS during the instructional day.  Students are encouraged to keep their cell phones in their locked locker throughout the instructional day.  Use during lunches would lead to an increased number of students with their cell phones in their possession during subsequent classes.  Also, unlike the HS, there are still MS students without cell phones.  We have leveled the playing field by giving all students chromebooks however we are unable to level the playing field with cell phones.
