I understand filling a big bus in the morning with 15-35 students but how does the district justify wasting the fuel on sending a large bus for 1 special ed child? Doesn’t seem efficient

A. There many ways of distinguishing efficiency. We run more than 600 routes daily. Sometimes it is more efficient for us to use a bus that is already out on the road instead of sending another bus especially in the this day and age of extreme school bus driver shortage.

when shen desktops and chromebooks get old does shen auction them off? if so where?

A. No, computers and Chromebooks are not auctioned at the end of their usable life.  In most cases devices are returned to BOCES where they are wiped of all data and then made available to other schools or in most cases are recycled.

Are you allowed to learn a language outside of Shen and still get credit for it?

A. Each situation is unique. At a minimum, the language study must be completed at an accredited institution (such as a local college). A. The middle school auditorium is located in Gowana.

Does Shen have a plan to make the buses more efficient for the Earth? I mean come on each bus when on full takes 100 gallons of diesels and take 10 quarts of oil..that adds up.

A. Diesel buses are very efficient and run just as clean if not cleaner than LPG, Gasoline and CNG. Diesel powered buses are more efficient than other type of alternative fueled buses. I’m a junior and I’ll be attending summer school, can I drive myself there?

A. If you have a license and a car.

Does the HSE library have old copies of yearbooks? If they do, how far back do they go?

A. Yes we have a complete set going all the way back to 1954. Just ask at the circulation desk for the year you are looking for and you can look at in the library.

How does one get a new student ID at west?

A. If a student loses their school ID, they can request a new one from the main office.  Please note that it takes some time for replacement IDs to be made.

What is Shen going to do with the hundreds of Chromebooks that current eight graders have when they move to high school since they’re all getting new ones?

A. Many will be used as loaners in the Chromebook Care Centers and the High School Student Helpdesk.  Others will be used to replace devices in other buildings that may be damaged beyond repair.
