Who can apply to the World Languages Honor Society and when?

Students who meet the following criteria may apply in the fall of 2016:

  • Scholarship: maintaining a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 90 or better with a minimum Grade Point Average of 90 in a minimum of four (4) world language classes taken for high school credit.
  • Volunteer Service: You must have completed at least 10 hours of service prior to completing this application. You may use any volunteer service from grades 9, 10, and 11 to fill out this portion. In addition, you must participate in 2 world language service events during the 2015-2016 school year to remain in good standing.
  • Leadership: You should be able to identify any leadership positions or activities you have involved yourself in during your time in high school.
  • Character: You must have the endorsement of at least one LOTE teacher currently employed at Shenendehowa High School.
  • Continued involvement in LOTE education: This may be in the form of additional LOTE classes, volunteer work outside the school community that incorporates your interest and/or talent world languages/cultures, or through participation in school sponsored opportunities to showcase your abilities in world languages.
