Why isn’t Shen more lenient with snow days if they don’t get withheld from public funding? Just curious, as I see you already have a lot of comments from other parents talking about this issue.

A. Because we believe education is important and we know that the winter in the northeast can run from October (yes, we have had snow storms in October) through April. It is going to snow here, it is going to snow frequently and our buses are going to have to drive in snow. So you have to balance everything. While an absence must be entered as unexcused on that day according to state law, it is still the parent’s prerogative to keep their child home.
